Juan Ivaldi is a practicing amateur astronomer and is the author of numerous published scientific papers and astronomy articles.  He has conducted scores of public astronomy lectures and programs attended by hundreds at a local observatory and other venues in and around his home town.  He earned his Ph.D. in the physical sciences from the University of Massachusetts and is a member of the Planetary Society, the Astronomical League, and the SPIE optical society.
